Kennebec Journal

"We don't like seeing help for hurting Americans held hostage to what has become a very bitter political battle over whether this country should drill for oil on the outer continental shelf. Yet we also believe that barring discussion in the Senate on proposals to lift an oil drilling ban -- just as Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi has done in the House -- is undemocratic."

Nice job of contradicting yourself in one sentence.

Here's a suggestion: Maine takes half of the entire motor fuel tax revenues and uses them for a state heating oil pool for the 2008-2009 winter heating season.

We are faced with children dying this winter in kerosene-heated homes that will catch on fire, and all Gov. Baldacci and the KJ et al. can utter are empty platitudes.

Use the fuel tax monies to keep peoples homes heated. It will save lives.
